You can’t visit Farm Tomita without eating the softserve. It’s practically the law.
The Softserve
A perfect twist of lavender and Hokkaido milk in a waffle cone. The lavender flavour is gentle — floral and slightly sweet, not perfumey — and the milk side is that rich, clean Hokkaido dairy that ruins all other ice cream for you. Together they work the way the best combinations do: each one making the other better.
The Experience
Eaten standing on the farm path, flower beds behind, autumn trees all around. The cone wrapper says “Lavender Soft” with a little mountain logo. It costs a few hundred yen and takes about four minutes to eat. Those four minutes are unreasonably good.
Worth It?
Without question. Hokkaido does dairy better than almost anywhere, and Farm Tomita’s lavender softserve is one of those things that turns a nice afternoon into a memory. Half a star off because it melts fast in any weather and there’s no good way to eat one slowly.
